What a great beginning!

It’s my second time reading this series so I can already tell you it worth your time. I love it. Lisa Kleypas never disappoints me. I hope you like it too.

Lisa Kleypas can, and usually does, do better.

I usually enjoy Lisa Kleypas, but Cold Hearted Rake is the exception. The heroine is a huge disappointment. The attraction anyone feels for her (her sisters in law, her cousin by marriage, and the cold hearted rake himself) is unbelievable. The only thing she does well is train and ride horses, and the rest of the time she is fluttering and shaking, and expounding on all the society rules that “Must Not” be broken. Ugh! Kleypas should have done better, especially for the first book in a series

Amazing

Loved the book. Hated Katherine. She judges everyone and everything harshly never giving anyone the benefit of the doubt and she’s very hypocritical and controlling

Cold-Hearted Rake

Never miss a book by this author. Always a wonderful love story, be it modern day or historical. Moving on to the next one in this series Marrying Mr. Winterborne.

This book was amazing! I absolutely love Lisa Kleypas books and i'm so glad she wrote another historical romance novel. I loved the banter between Devon and Kathleen. I loved all the changes Devon made in his life and with his family. And Kathleen was so relatable and funny. i loved how much she cared for everyone and her quick wit. This book also introduced some great characters. I can't wait until we get to West's book and the Twins books! And best of all, Helens book is next!!! I just loved her and Rhys interactions. And the excerpt at the end of the book previewing Helens was great! I can't wait until the next book is released. <3

Really good!

This was such a good book that I found it very hard to put down. Devon Ravenel has inherited an earldom and a house full of family that he does not want and wants to unload it all and soon. Kathleen the widow has made it her job to stop Devon at every turn. Devon sees Kathleen as the only plus of the whole mess and vows to have her. They have great chemistry but defiantly have a love hate relationship for half the book. Kathleen was left to care of her husbands sisters who by far are three of the brightest stars of the book. Helen and the twins, Cassandra and Pandora were a joy and the antics of the twins had me laughing out loud. I can't leave out West, Devon's brother who was quite the charmer. The only thing that I did not like was that for most the book I really wanted to kill Devon. He did redeem himself in the end but it was touchy there for a while. I understood Devon's problem. He was handed the one thing he never wanted and didn't realize it was the only thing that would give him a life of selfworth and meaning. I recommend this and all of Lisa Kleypas' book you can't go wrong.

I've read all of her books and love them. This one is beyond terrible. I literally skimmed through most of it. The characters were boring and lame. I deserve my money back. Badly done.

So glad to read this historical by Lisa….finished it quickly -one sitting…loved the setting, characters, plot,BUT wished the next book was out next week instead of next year...

Where is Lisa?

I've read and re-read all of her historical novels. Her characters are so well developed you fell as you know them. This book is so lacking in substance I can not remember the character names. The ending of the book left you hanging! Hopefully the next in the series will be better.

Liebmann Family

Really glad to see she's back, but...

This feels a lot like a Hathaway sisters reboot and the main characters spent at least a third of the book completely apart. Parts where unbearably slow and others seemed rushed, especially the ending. The author seemed to get back in to her writing/creative groove towards the end of the book and laid a *really* nice foundation for the next book. I felt like Helen and Mr. Winterborne where more fleshed out , believable characters and definitely more interesting than the main characters of this book. I only finished it a couple hours ago and I can't even remember their names. I found his turn around was rushed and a bit unbelievable and she was kind of a meh character. She was all over the place and hard to figure out. Despite the rather clunky return to historical romance (especially for the Lisa Kleypas we all know and love!) I'm actually really looking forward to reading Helen's story and then Cassandra and Pandora, and then, of course, West! I think once Lisa gets her groove back we are all in for a real treat! Unfortunately, for me, this was a rather mediocre appetizer to what I anticipate will be an amazing 5 course meal!

Yes!

She's back! I was not a fan of Brown Eyed Girl and was frankly worried Kleypas had lost her passion for the work, but her return to historicals proves I was dead wrong. Can't WAIT for Winterbourne's story.

Classic Kleypas ... A fan's must read

Tension; anxiety; attraction; unexpected friendship it's everything your looking for in an afternoon's escape ... A book that leaves you wanting more ... I can't wait for Mr. Winterbourne's story. It says something when you leave one book with only anticipation for the next!

Very Enjoyable

This is the first book by Ms. Kleypas I’ve read and I have to say I enjoyed it very much. I read it in a single sitting and found myself dissappointed that the story didn’t continue (yet). While another reviewer has suggested that her characters were not as well developed as previous efforts (and I have no basis to confirm or deny this), I found that they were developed more then enough for the storyline. In any case, if you are looking for an enjoyable read in the historical romance genre, I think you will be quite happy with “Cold-Hearted Rake”.

Wonderful addition to my collection, a must for Historical Romance enthusiasts. Impatiently waiting for Marrying Mr. Winterbourne, next year!

Disappointed

I love Lisa Kleypas and have read all of her books. This character layout felt very much like the Hathaway series but without much detail. The plot and characters seemed forced and rushed. It seems obvious that there are several characters to expand upon and hopefully she will spend more time with character development in the next book. I am glad she is back to writing historical novels and hope she rekindles the charm of her earlier books.

Badly done.

Where is Lisa?

I've read and re-read all of her historical novels. Her characters are so well developed you fell as you know them. This book is so lacking in substance I can not remember the character names. The ending of the book left you hanging! Hopefully the next in the series will be better.

What a great beginning!

It’s my second time reading this series so I can already tell you it worth your time. I love it. Lisa Kleypas never disappoints me. I hope you like it too.

Jegberty

What a great beginning!

It’s my second time reading this series so I can already tell you it worth your time. I love it. Lisa Kleypas never disappoints me. I hope you like it too.

Jegberty

In any case, if you are looking for an enjoyable read in the historical romance genre, I think you will be quite happy with “Cold-Hearted Rake”.

She is back!

Lisa Kleypas
